Denise Alanis
MS, CCC-SLP, Speech Therapy Clinical Excellence Leader
Denise is the dynamic leader of our large and diverse Speech Therapy Department. A graduate of University of Texas Pan American, Denise is trained in the use of Neuro Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) for dysphagia, Integrated Listening Systems, Therapeutic Listening, The Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, and the PROMPT method. Denise is well-respected for making positive gains with the most challenging of patients experiencing feeding/oral motor issues or needing AAC devices to communicate with others. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, hunting, and fishing.
Karina Melendez
MS, CCC-SLP
A graduate of University of Texas at Dallas, Karina is trained in supporting oral feeding in infants, and “Feed the Peds” techniques. She feels most skilled in working with younger children with feeding or language development delays. In her free time, she enjoys reading and traveling.
Claudia I. Gonzalez
MA, CCC-SLP
Claudia is one of Milestones’ most senior SLP’s with extensive continuing education to impact a range of patients. A graduate of University of Texas Pan American, Claudia is trained in Neuro-Developmental Treatment, NMES, Therapeutic Listening, feeding, Talk Tools, PECS, and AAC. Her area of expertise focuses on feeding and feeding aversions. In her down time, she enjoys scrapbooking, running, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Christian L. Coll
MS, CCC-SLP
A graduate of University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Texas A&M Kingsville, Christian is trained in Beckman and AmpCare. She chooses innovative activities to work with her favorite population of children with language delays/issues. She enjoys listening to music, spending time with her family and taking care of her son when not at Milestones.
Sarah J. Cavazos

Sarah utilizes many techniques to engage her patients in therapy. Her excellent clinical reasoning offers targeted activities to bring functional gains. A graduate of Texas A&M Kingsville, Sarah is trained in NMES and other feeding and language-based treatment techniques. She enjoys spending time with her family, husband and dog in her down time.
Daniel Ramos
MS, CCC-SLP
Daniel is driven to foster team growth through his frequent offers of shadowing and mentoring of his fellow therapists. A graduate of University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, he has specialized in working with the Autistic population utilizing Social Behavior Mapping, Verbal Behavior Therapy and Picture Exchange Communication System. Daniel enjoys photography and DJing in his free time.
Katie Pagan
MA, CCC-SLP
A graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University, Katie is trained in NMES and other techniques targeting feeding and oral motor issues. She finds excitement in making positive changes in her patient’s abilities and celebrates them in the smallest of achievements! She enjoys rhythmic cycling in her free time.
Gabriela Trejo

Gabriela loves working with children with language delays using playful and comprehensive treatment ideas. A graduate of Texas A&M University, she is highly skilled in working with the bilingual population of children with language delays. Gabriela enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her family and pets when not at Milestones.
Nallely Villegas
BS, SLP-Intern
A graduate of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Nallely enjoys working with children with Down’s Syndrome and those with delayed language development. She loves to spend time with family and friends when not at Milestones, as well as reading and watching her favorite shows.
Debbie Xoca

Debbie is one our newest team members and driven to learn from her therapist family. Her creative approach to treatment planning fosters relationships and interaction with her group of patients. A graduate of University of North Texas, Debbie enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends in her spare time.
Jenna D. Arredondo
MA, CCC-SLP
Jenna is our most senior clinician having started her career at Milestones in 2000. She has devoted countless hours to development of detailed treatment plans for virtually every type of patient we serve. Having extensive training in a variety of techniques, she is particularly gifted in workng with language and literacy cases. A graduate of University of Texas Pan American, Jenna is trained in DPNS, Beckman, and AAC. When not at work, she enjoys gardening, crafting, and reading.
Stephanie Gurwitz
MS, CCC-SLP
A graduate of University of Texas-SLP Dallas, Stephanie is trained in Guardian and Hanen. She has also become highly skilled in training her patients in AAC use – integrating functional communication for her patients at home, community and school. In her free time, she enjoys reading and cooking.
Gabriela Gonzalez Vazquez

A graduate of University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Gabriela pulls various treatment tools from her experience base to address language and feeding issues in the kids on her caseload. She enjoys watching movies, watercolor painting, and going to the beach in her free time.
Laura Zaidan
MS, CCC-SLP
Laura utilizes her wide range of skills developed over 25 years of experience to work with her favorite population of children with Autism and those with language delays. She has extensive training in techniques such as PROMPT and PECS to work toward pragmatic language development in her patients. A graduate of University of Arkansas, Laura specializes in autism care. When not at Milestones, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Sarah Mejorado
MS, CCC-SLP
A graduate of University of Texas Pan American, Sarah is trained in Guardian NMES, PROMPT, Beckman, Hanen, and PECS. Seeing patients in both the clinic and home, Sarah supports her patients through education of the family to carry over ideas. Her therapy skills help develop functional skills for children with feeding, oral motor and communication delays. She enjoys jogging with her daughter, knitting, and spending time with family.
Lizette Flores
MS, CCC-SLP
Lizette enjoys working with children with children with hearing impairments as well as those with language delays. She enjoys problem-solving for AAC choice for those kids with expressive language difficulties. A graduate of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, she enjoys her down time spent with her family, dancing and practicing her American Sign Language skills.
Joslyn Balli

As a graduate of Texas State University, Joslyn developed an interest in working with young and school-aged children with mixed expressive and receptive delays. She enjoys developing creative treatment plans to engage her patients make gains in their communication skills across environments.
Diana Mendoza
MS, CCC-SLP
Having worked with children with Autism for many years, Diana uses a wide variety of techniques such as Verbal Behavior Training, PECS, and Social Stories. The importance of navigating social situations, with all the nuances and communication requirements, is one of her most challenging and rewarding therapeutic interventions. Diana has received extensive training in many therapy techniques to accomplish goals in this realm.
Amaris Garcia

Amaris has developed special skills in working with children with ASD. Use of DIR Floor Time as well as administration of the ADOS influences her treatment planning with this population.
Lizbeth Espinoza

Lizbeth loves working with communication disorders of ALL types – cognitive, social, articulation, expressive, receptive. She pulls from a wide variety of techniques to target language and communication issues; she is especially excited to work with children with Autism to develop both language and social skills. Although she finds these children to be challenging, but she is rewarded to hasten gains to change their daily lives.
Debanhi Perez

Dehbani uses her advanced skills in areas of early intervention, behavioral techniques and language development to help her kids make functional changes. A graduate of Carlos Albizu University, Debanhi is also trained in Ampcare. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and working out.

A graduate of University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Ariana is trained in Ampcare. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her dog.
America Magana

America is trained in a variety of techniques that impact oral motor function for enhanced feeding and swallowing – these include Ampcare and thermotactile stimulation. A graduate of Texas A&M Kingsville, she believes strongly in the power of teamwork with families who will follow through to provide daily stimulation of intervention strategies. When not at Milestones, she enjoys being a mom.
Valerie Nevarez
MS, CCC-SLP, Administrator
A graduate of University of Texas Pan American, Valerie is trained in Vital Stim and Therapeutic Listening. Although her direct therapy hours are limited, Valerie plays a vital role in monitoring both clinical and facility compliance for all of our clinicians. She assists team members in problem-solving various operational and clinical issues. She enjoys spending time with her family and going on cruises in her down time.
Brenda Ochoa

A graduate of Utah State University, Brenda is currently completing her MS in Speech Language Pathology. She particularly enjoys working with patients on articulation, language and fluency. When she’s not working, you can find her drinking an iced vanilla latte, attending basketball or football games, and enjoying time with her family and fur babies.

As a graduate of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Alondra loves working with all types of patients. Away from Milestones, she spends her free time traveling with friends and family and enjoying coffee at her favorite shop.

A graduate of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Valeria is exceptionally skilled in the area of early intervention. She is also very interested in working with persons with hearing impairments who use hearing aids and cochlear implants. In her spare time she spends time with family and friends, running and road trips.

Carmen Pagan

A graduate of Pan American University, Carmen is a certified in Neuro-Developmental Treatment and is a Pediatric Speech Instructor with the NDTA. In addition, she is trained in NMES, Therapeutic Listening, Kinesiotape, Hanen, Beckman, and Mary Massery techniques. With over 30 years of clinical experience, Carmen has worked with hundreds of patients with different abilities. Using an eclectic approach, she both treats and mentors staff on challenging issues. When not at Milestones, Carmen enjoys sitting in the water at the beach.
Misty B. Standard

Misty, a graduate of Southwest Texas University, specializes in neurodevelopmental disorders, auditory/sensory processing, dysphagia management, and executive dysfunction. She is certified in administering the SIPT, Pediatric Neuro-Developmental Treatment, Integrated Listening Systems, and the Safe and Sound Protocol. Misty, with more than 30 years of clinical experience, has extensive training in various auditory-based interventions such as VoicePro, Interactive Metronome, Listening Fitness, Therapeutic Listening, and Quick Shifts. Additionally, she is trained to provide both Vital Stim and Guardian NMES. Outside of Milestones, Misty enjoys gardening and spending time with her family
